SAME RIGHTS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS! RIGHTS FOR YOUNGS IN BIR SALAH!
Related to country: Tunisia

Nabiha, Zineb and Mariem are from these girls who want Bir Salah, their village, to change and Bir Salah's children and youngs to acess to NTIC and world culture, have fun and have scholar help...

It is so difficult to impose new ideas of modernity in such a society were people only take care of "honnor" of the familly, "what say people" and "what would say people if"

For example, for Nabiha and other girls who work in the center for children and youngs of Bir Salah (Tunisia), it has been very difficult to convince their parents and brothers they would work, 200m far away from home!

BECAUSE THEY ARE GIRLS, BECAUSE THEY ARE YOUNGS, BECAUSE PEOPLE WOULD TALK AND SAY IT IS NOT GOOD, IT IS NOT HONORABLE!

I hope the day girls would have same right than boys would come quickly...it may be true on paper, but it is not in the reality and it is completly disgusting.
Only because some people have nothing to do except talking about others and criticize everything so nobody would do anything and things would stay "as well", let's keep our "traditions" they say...

I think the problem is not to keep traditions, I am for and with traditions because it is our history! The problem is when we are moving back in the old ages!

WHEN SOME PEOPLE DECIDE TO PREVENT THE DEVELOPMENT, WE MOVE BACK, IN THE PAST!

In Bir Salah, 50 years ago, people were more open to the world than now! They talked french, they worked and had fun. They applied the tradition and it was funny. Women and girls had no problem if they wanted to go to see their friends, girls can were as they wanted...

Now, girls have to be "well dressed", cover their head so nobody see them (and it is not a question of being a good muslim or not, it is a question of "honnor".Lof of these girls are not asking if they want or no to wear like that, lot of them do because they have no choice. It is not a question of religion, because they hardly don't know their religion! Because they don't have access to books or Internet to make searches. They have to wear like this because if they don't do, people would say they are not good, their parents are not good etc...not because they feel muslim but only to look respectable..it is not the case of all but a lot of them. Hopefully there are girls who are convinced by their religion and know it well...), youngs have no right to a good education, to make fun, or to work...they do not know their traditions...is there no place for them?

I think they, girls and youngs, are finding a place with their association and they would find the way to develope their village, with or without agrement of "people" and it may be better like that!!

Chains!!!
You are talking as a person who is looking for the women’s emancipation!!!
They are already free!!! But not free from their ethic, culture, education, religion ... and no one of us can be free from that! Every one has his own chains!

don't understand the sense of your comment...

are you telling that these girls are already free and chosed the way they live? And so I don't have to talk about change their way of living?

Or are you telling that we can't do anything for these girls?

I am sorry but when you can't get a good education, go out from your village, drive a car or see people you want to see, wear what you want to wear or marry who you want to marry...are you really free?

It is not a question of ethic, culture or religion! The problem is a lot of people don't want the women's emancipation because they could make a better future for their children by realizing a lot of projects...

But you can think as you want, I know what I am talking about.
